It is always recommended you feed whole peanuts from a peanut feeder as it has been known for fledglings & small birds to choke on whole peanuts. A peanut feeder ensures that the birds can only eat a small piece of the nut at a time.

Peanuts are a favourite of garden birds as they are high in energy and a rich source of proteins, fats and fibre.

Garden Birds that enjoy Peanuts are Blue Tits, Green Tits, Long Tail Tits, Chaffinches, Bullfinches, Greenfinches, Goldfinches, Woodpeckers, House Sparrows plus many more varieties of wild birds.

Cleaning: It is always worthwhile cleaning your feeder occasionally with warm water and a mild disinfectant solution to avoid he build-up of bacteria.

Hints & Tips: Squirrels are persistent creatures and will endeavour to get from the feeder. Additional measures to deter squirrels are:
    • Ensure that the Squirrel cannot access the feeder by jumping on to it from nearby trees or climbing up a feeding station etc.
    • That as an extra deterrent to the Squirrels getting onto a feeder a tree hook is used as this will increase the distance between the feeder and the hanging point.
    • Provide a Squirrel Feeder for the Squirrels as this may encourage them to feed from their own specific feeder and leave the wild bird feeder alone.
    • Add a dash of strong chilli powder to the seed mix. Squirrels do not appreciate the taste of the chilli powder, but birds are not bothered by it.

Ensure in your garden that the wild birds always have access to a source of water. The Supa Wild Bird Water Drinker is ideal for this purpose.
